Lunch Break Garden

I had this idea to turn a very small plot of land into a garden about 2 years ago.   Back in August of 2012 my wife and I found out that we were expecting a child and so I decided that my life needed to get more complicated by trying something time consuming that I knew nothing about- Start an Organic Garden.

Main Problem:
  • I knew nothing about gardening.
  • The space I wanted to farm was overgrown and needed a bunch of fixin' up (technical term)
  •  I didn't have a lot of time to dedicate each week to maintaining the garden.
Main Solutions:
  • Bought a simple gardening book
  • Conned my Dad (from here on out we will call him D.O.D-Dear Ole Dad) into helping me with some heavy lifting
  • Since the plot of raised beds were at my place of employment I could best utilize my time by working outside each day during my lunch break

So I started fixing up the old raised beds.  It was rough....

And DOD and I rented a small 2 HP tiller and ripped up everything we could.   It was a beast of a job.  But we got it done that unseasonably warm day in January.
